Christina Felten, LCSWA
Your story matters and you deserve to be seen and heard ...
I support young adults, caregivers, couples, and families in building and maintaining healthy relationships. I can assist with navigating impacts of trauma, neurodivergence, disability, chronic disease, relational challenges, family of origin issues, and life transitions. I enjoy working with people who experience sensory and emotional sensitivity to develop strategies for coping with a world that feels too loud, too much, and too overwhelming. I work with parents raising kids with high support needs as well as new moms with perinatal mental health disorders. I have experience supporting individuals navigating grief and loss. Drawing from my own lived experience, I can provide care for people who have left high control religious groups/cults and those who have experienced spiritual abuse and religious trauma.
I show up with curiosity, kindness, empathy, and creativity. Our time together will be centered on finding what works best for you and attuned to your comfort level. If you are open to a more integrative and somatic approach, I can incorporate right brain experiential techniques such as creative art interventions, walk-and-talk therapy, sound healing, and polyvagal-informed techniques. I believe that participating in these mind-body approaches with clients promotes safety and coregulation. I understand that it takes bravery to begin the work of recovery, and I consider it a privilege to create a space that facilitates healing. My goal is to help you find your own voice and build a relationship with yourself that moves you into freedom and wholeness. You are the expert on your story, and I want to help empower you to move towards sustainable change and a fulfilling life. I believe that healing and recovery are accessible to everyone.
I have a background in working with children with disabilities in a variety of settings and countries, including as a special education teacher, a residential house parent, a child and family advocate, and a caregiver. For the last decade, while raising my four daughters, I have been working as a professional artist and a music instructor. I have trainings in experiential therapy techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Practice Self-Regulation, and Internal Family Systems, as well as training and experience in providing Trauma Informed Care.
